This child is GOD…the SON

As we approach Christmas, consider the closeness and importance of family; the love and affection you have for your family. Think about the joy of watching a child, maybe your child, anticipate the approach of the Christmas season with all the lights, carols, get-togethers with family and friends and most of all of course…Christmas morning!

With this in mind, read the following passages: Gal 4.4-5; Lk 1.35; Jn 1.34, 49; Mt 14.33, 16.16; 1 Jn 4.9-10.

o   In light of your experience of love for your family and especially your child, consider what God the Father felt as He sent His Son away from His “family” to be our sacrifice at Christmas. Would you be willing or able to do such a thing for others?

o   Consider and discuss the depths of God’s love for you and others. How does your life demonstrate a growing appreciation to God for His love demonstrated to you? In what ways should your love grow?

Read Acts 9.20; Jn 3.18, 36; 11.27, 20.30-31; 1 Jn 4.15, 5.5; Rev 2.18

o   Make a list of those you know that are in need of hearing and receiving the truth of what God has done in the Son this Christmas season.

o   Discuss and consider with others in your Life Group a plan for prayer and witness to those on your list.

o   Commit as a group to pray for one another that God the Father would give the needed grace to lead those listed to His Son Jesus the Christmas.

PONDER

Meditate on Hebrews chapter 1 this week and consider the supremacy of God’s Son!
