This child is GOD…in FLESH

Consider the increasing degree of personal difficulty experienced in each of the following scenarios:

o   Watching a video of a homeless person sleeping on the sidewalk downtown while watching the evening news from your couch.

o   Walking past a homeless person sleeping on the sidewalk downtown while shopping.

o   Being a homeless person sleeping on the sidewalk downtown while the local news team and shoppers pass by.

Read Isaiah 7.14 and Matthew 1.18-25

o   In light of your own experience considered above, consider God’s experience of being born as a human child. How would your experience above and God’s be similar? How would it be different?

o   How has God’s willingness to lovingly sacrifice for you changed you [spiritually, mentally, emotionally, physically, relationally, socially, etc]?

o   In what ways has God’s example led you to lovingly sacrifice for others [family, church, work, school, community, etc]?

o   Who is the Lord placing on your heart or in your path to reach with His example? What is your plan?

o   What areas of your life remain selfish and self-focused? Why?

o   Do you have a plan for becoming more like Jesus? What is it?

Meditate on Luke 2.1-38 this week and consider the great thing that God has done for you!
