THE HOLY SPIRIT

God’s Provision for Our Mission

Acts 1.8

(05.15.16)

PATH

But you will receive POWER when the HOLY SPIRIT has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

POINTS

HOLY SPIRIT’S PRESENCE

Read Luke 24.49; Acts 1.4-5, 12-14

o   In these passages, we see God remind us of the importance of waiting upon Him and praying to Him both individually and corporately before taking action. In light of this principle, how well do you walk with God daily?

o   Discuss how you wait on and pray to God ie…

§  Do you generally feel anxious or rushed or do you normally experience a sense of calm and peace in your daily activities?

§  Do you start your day with a shower and cup of coffee as you run out the door or do you have a time of peace and quiet where you enjoy a cup of coffee as you read and pray?

§  Do you normally arrive home feeling spent and tired too exhausted to read a story, pray or spend time with your children or spouse before going to bed?

§  Do you long for more peace and power in and thru your life?

HOLY SPIRIT’S POWER

Read Acts 2.1-4, 17-18, 37-41, 42-47

o   In these verses we see God the Holy Spirit brings power to believers individually to accomplish His work thru the church corporately. Do you long, not just want, like or desire, but long to have God’s Holy Spirit move in your life in a like manner? Why or why not?

o   Discuss among the group how your individual lives would be different as you experienced the power of the Holy Spirit in these ways.

o   Discuss among the group how our church would be different if we began to experience the power of the Holy Spirit in these ways.

o   Consider the picture of the church in verses 42-47 and discuss the steps necessary for your group to begin to experience the blessing of the powerful presence of the Holy Spirit in and thru your lives.
